Breastfeeding provides essential nutrition for infants birth to one year and older. We encourage all new moms to breastfeed for as long as they are comfortable. We respect each family's feeding decisions and want to help you to succeed. There are many mothers who want to breastfeed but have a difficult time doing so. As with learning anything new, most breastfeeding mothers and babies (and dads too!) need some instruction and support during this learning period. This can be extremely frustrating, especially with so many other changes in your life. Luckily, this isn’t something that you have to tackle on your own.
Understanding Lactation Support
Certified Lactation Consultants have a medical background with additional extensive training in helping breastfeeding mothers. Your consultant will gather information about you and your child’s health, the pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum period. She will observe you breastfeeding and help to make breastfeeding more comfortable and effective, to help you to meet your breastfeeding goals. She can provide pumps and other supplies if needed.
